Beware of the pleasant view of the Fatherhood of God – God is so kind and loving that of course He will forgive us. That sentiment has no place whatever in the New Testament. The only ground on which God can forgive us is the tremendous tragedy of the Cross of Christ; to put forgiveness on any other ground is unconscious blasphemy. The only ground on which God can forgive sin and reinstate us in His favour is through the Cross of Christ, and in no other way. Forgiveness, which is so easy for us to accept, cost the agony of Calvary. It is possible to take the forgiveness of sin, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and our sanctification with the simplicity of faith, and to forget at what enormous cost to God it was all made ours.
In the Scriptures, the great miracle of the incarnation slips into the ordinary life of a child; the great miracle of the transfiguration fades into the demon-possessed valley below; the glory of the resurrection descends into a breakfast on the seashore. This is not an anticlimax, but a great revelation of God. We have a…

Worship is giving God the best that He has given you. Be careful what you do with the best you have. Whenever you get a blessing from God, give it back to Him as a love-gift. Take time to meditate before God and offer the blessing back to Him in a deliberate act of worship. If you hoard it for yourself, it will turn into spiritual dry rot, as the manna did when it was hoarded (see Exodus 16:20). God will never allow you to keep a spiritual blessing completely for yourself. It must be given back to Him so that He can make it a blessing to others.
Bethel is the symbol of fellowship with God; Ai is the symbol of the world. Abram “pitched his tent” between the two. The lasting value of our public service for God is measured by the depth of the intimacy of our private times of fellowship and oneness with Him. Rushing in and out of worship is wrong every time— there is always plenty of time to worship God. Days set apart for quiet can be a trap, detracting from the need to have daily quiet time with God. That is why we must “pitch our tents” where we will always have quiet times with Him, however noisy our times with the world may be. There are not three levels of spiritual life— worship, waiting, and work. Yet some of us seem to jump like spiritual frogs from worship to waiting, and from waiting to work. God’s idea is that the three should go together as one. They were always together in the life of our Lord and in perfect harmony. It is a discipline that must be developed; it will not happen overnight.by Linda Sue with no comments yet

This Bible study course is written with the hope of helping us to worship God in the way that is acceptable to the Lord so we can go to heaven when this life is over. Jesus says in John 4:24, “God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” The reason I have used such a large number of scriptures throughout this course is to point to the truth of what God has said on how He is to be worshipped, and not what I say. For us to worship God in spirit and in truth we must make sure we obey all of His commandments as given by Him in the Bible on how He is to be worshipped. In this course I have tried to point to only what the Bible says, and not to what I think. We must speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. We must do things in Bible ways and call things by Bible names. Anything that is less than, more than, or different from what the Bible says is false doctrine. If we fail to follow God’s instructions it becomes sin, we will be lost and punished along with Satan in eternal torment.
There is much confusion in the religious world today concerning worship. There are more than 600 different religious denominational churches, each with different doctrines and beliefs, who are attempting to worship God in ways contrary to what He says in the Bible. As we sing, pray, give, partake of the communion, and as the gospel sermon is preached, it must be done according to God’s instructions in the Bible.
Unless otherwise noted, all scripture quotations are from the New King James Version of the Bible, Copyright © by Thomas Nelson Inc. I have bolded certain words and phrases for emphasis. All scripture quotations are in red.
This course is divided into twenty-four (24) lessons. After each lesson you are asked to answer several interactive multiple choice and true-false questions concerning what you have just studied. The correct answer is found in the scripture reference that is listed with the questions. Click on the answer of your choice and a dialog box will appear telling you if your answer is correct or wrong and why. It is my hope and prayer that the scriptures pointed out in this course will help you to worship God in spirit and in truth.by Linda Sue with no comments yet
